This research project investigates the landscape of free online courses, analyzing their effectiveness in facilitating skill development across various disciplines. The study delves into the pedagogical approaches employed by these courses, assessing their impact on learner engagement, knowledge acquisition, and skill attainment. It examines the accessibility of these resources, considering factors such as internet connectivity, digital literacy, and language barriers. Furthermore, the project explores the challenges faced by learners, including issues of course quality, instructor support, and the validation of acquired skills. The project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state of free online learning, offering insights for both learners and educators. This involves an extensive review of existing literature, followed by an analysis of the various platforms, course materials, and assessment strategies used. We will also incorporate the data from surveys and interviews, to provide a rounded context.
