This research project delves into the multifaceted relationship between fashion and cultural identity in Kazakhstan. It examines the evolution of fashion trends in Kazakhstan from the pre-Soviet era to the present day, exploring how they have reflected and shaped cultural values, societal changes, and national identity. The study investigates the interplay of indigenous traditions, Soviet influences, and global trends in the context of Kazakhstan's unique geographical and historical circumstances. Furthermore, it analyzes the role of fashion in expressing ethnicity, social status, and political affiliations. This project will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining historical research, interviews with fashion experts and designers, and a content analysis of fashion media and visual representations. The project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how fashion functions as a dynamic force in Kazakhstan's cultural landscape, contributing to a deeper appreciation of the country's rich historical and cultural heritage. It will also examine the impact of globalization and the growing influence of social media on the local fashion scene.
