This research project delves into the multifaceted experiences of the African diaspora within the Russian context. It aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the historical presence, contemporary challenges, and sociocultural contributions of individuals of African descent in Russia. The study will trace the origins of the diaspora, examining the various factors that led to the establishment of African communities in Russia, including but not limited to, educational opportunities. Furthermore, the project will assess the integration processes and patterns of acculturation. It seeks to uncover the societal perceptions, stereotypes, and forms of discrimination encountered by members of the African diaspora. This research will also analyze the ways in which the descendants of Africans navigate identity formation, cultural preservation, and community building within a predominantly Slavic environment. The project plans to use a wide range of academic sources and methods. The data will be extracted from archival materials, scholarly articles, and policy documents, with results being synthesized to create a broad picture. It also considers the global context of migration and the experiences of the African diaspora worldwide. This comprehensive approach will offer insight into the complex relationship between Russia and the African continent.
